Here you cant be more wrong, 99% of all the alliances are looking for active reasonably sized dedicated mining players/corps, my advice is to start talking to alliance people and get "discovered", a 20 strong active mining corp can dig quite a bit of minerals out of the rocks out in 0.0 and even if the alliance takes 50% you will make alot more then you do in empire.
The main benefit for an alliance to take in a young active mining corp is that they will get loyalty, you will always have a special conection to the first guys that gave you a shot whereas an old connected mining corp can switch alegiances alot easier.
In short, dont try to get into the lowsec mining buisness, get into the 0.0 mining buisness.
Quote: I say with open honesty what we would be highly unable to hold our own, or to even effectively assist any alliance we joined. Granted, I would love to join a large group like IRON or Foresaken, but it's not feasable yet.
Naturally you cant hold your own but 15 active miners in ospreys/scythes will create a hell of a lot of minerals if given a chance and thus you will be able to help an alliance alot. I am willing to wager the alliance will even supply you with belt guards to keep you safe from them pesky NPC rats.
Quote: We know our limits, and we know our skills. Most of us have under 200k SP and under a mil each in ISK. Until we build ourselves into a viable and profitable corporation we will continue to stay in >0.5 empire. Anything else would be suicide.
Again, low skills will increase but even with low skills numbers will matter and over time the skills will increase.
To an allaince supplying you with ospries/scythes miner II's and some belt guards will be nothing compared to the amount of minerals you will be able to bring in from a decent 0.0 belt. Only thing the alliance will want to make sure of is thet: A: you are indeed an active corp and B: you are not spies.
The spy part is hard to prove but if youb really are the genuine aryticle then I dont forsee any problems with proving that and as for active...
A number of people seem to be of the opininon that combat pilots make upp the backbone of alliances, nothing can be further from the truth, the combat pilots make upp the weapons held in the hands of the alliance, they are needed but without support from a dedicated mining crew they will fast run out of ships and modules. The real backbone of an alliance are the miners and builders and if you are in a position to reinforce that part of an alliance they would be daft to turn you down.
